Christmas Day Dodge Ball

Today is Christmas, and over the years, we've had a tradition of "challenging" another family to a dual, of sorts.  We either play dodge ball, volleyball, or basketball.  Today was no different.  We weren't about to let a little thing like moving to a new place stop us.  We've had 4 months to scope out our new "victims" and we found just the perfect family.  It happens to be our Bishops family.  We issued the challenge, they accepted, we met at the chapel at 11am.  We might have neglected to tell them of our distraction tactics.  Small little detail.

While getting ready, we all decided to wear bandannas but that soon turned into other outfits.  As you can tell by the picture, the Batman costume and Nacho mask found there way out of the depths of the closet (Thank you Jones' for both of these awesome items)

The look on their faces was priceless when we emerged from our car to begin the game.  At first they coward in the corner, not really sure what to make of us but that didn't last.  They came out fighting and won the first 2 games!

But their winning streak didn't last long as we (okay Dave and Chris) dominated the remainder of the games.
I think is was the Doo rags on their heads!

Poor DeeAnn didn't know what to do but she was a good sport about it.  And Micah, with a broken hand did very well and even ended up being the soul survivor on their team several times.  Fun was had by all and we will reconvene next year for another dual.

  1. Way to gently break yourselves into a new ward! No one can ever prepare themselves for the plethora of costumes the Petersens can unleash on poor unsuspecting families who think you're all normal. I'm sure the Bishop's family all showed up just thinking they were kindly being invited to a fun little game. Little did they know they'd end up needing shock therapy to help them with post-tramatic-Petersen syndrome. You guys rock!

By the way, I just sent your photo to the 1-hour. It's getting framed and displayed at my house. I love you people. Batman and all.

  2. We missed your family at the Christmas challenge this year! It was weird not doing anything with you guys this year. I hope you had a great Christmas!
