I miss my Man Cub!!

I finally got word that the boys' river trip is going very well and that are having a blast.  The only down side...not enough bug repellant!  They are being eaten alive and I suspect they will return looking like they have the chicken pocks.   Jeffrey's never had them, so I'll be sure to get photos.

Maybe I should stock up on Aveno bath itch relief.

We know that they made it to Flaming Gorge so they are on time and will be done tomorrow (Sat).
Then, I'll be able to hear all of the strange sounds that come out of Jeffrey, both from the top and unfortunately, the bottom!  He is quite talented in that way.
I'm sure he will be smelly, but I'll take him however I get him...until he ticks me off and I what to give him away to the lowest bidder.  Just kidding.

I love having him around.  He's getting more muscles for doing the heavy lifting.  It works out for both of us...he lifts things and I feed him!  I'm pretty sure I got the short end of that deal.  This kid can eat!
He is a eating machine!!!  And he is skinny.

Holy Hail!

Today it rained!  I mean it really rained!  It hailed too.

There were some little kids playing soccer at the school across the street.  These are their parents picking them up.

See... hail!

We have our own lake!

It rained so hard and so fast that we got a BUBBLE in our grass!  It actually jiggles when you touch it.

Jeffrey's River Trip

Yesterday, we drove a car load of Boy Scouts up to Wyoming.  They have been planning this canoeing trip for several months and it was even postponed once because the run off was too high and too cold.  They decided to wait a month for the rivers to calm down a little before taking a bunch of fearless boys down it.  Good call!

The boys had to pack everything they needed into a couple of 5 gallon buckets.  This included their sleeping bags, clothes, shoes, mess kit, snacks and bug repellant.  Everything had to fit into 2 buckets.

The Boys: and their brave leaders

Someone "smart" brought them donuts.  Gave them a sugar high before being in a car for 3 hours.

I spy a....

Bunch of Camels!
We stopped in Evanston, Wy. to get the boys' their fishing permits and came across...a trailer full of CAMELS!!
You just never know what you're gonna find at The Wal Mart!

These camels weren't too thrilled with being locked up.  They kept making strange sounds.

Welcome to Wyoming:

 Not much to look at!

 We finally reached the river!

Bye Jefferoni!!  Hope he has a blast!

Pig, Pioneers, Parade and Peterson's

Pioneer Day: An official Utah holiday celebrating when the Mormon pioneers finally made it to the Salt Lake Valley.  After pulling handcarts across the country and enduring unimaginable hardships and much persecution, they arrived in the valley on July 24, 1847.  We celebrate them by having parades, gathering with family, and watching fireworks.  This usually also involves way too much food and this year was no different.  My cousin Jared invited all of us to join him at the family farm in Monroe to roast a whole pig and enjoy each others company.
This is Mr. Pig before...

This is the pig, in the bathtub covered in ice...Where else do you keep a whole pig??

This is Mr. Pig after...

Uncle Mark carving Mr Pig and Dave...always in front of a BBQ

Mark and Jared, still carving...
Even though the guys put the pig in the ground ALL DAY LONG (12 hours) he didn't get totally cooked, so they decided to pull him apart and put him on the grill.

There is nothing like this small town parade to bring back fond memories.

All of these people are my family

Kelly, Travis and all the kids.  Kelly is due with baby #4 next month!

What's a parade without a couple of John Deer Tractors

If you read this blog you'll remember the post about the farm and of my Grandpa's milk cans.  I took more photos this weekend to show what the farm looks like in the summer time since the previous ones where taken in the winter.

This is the old milking shed where I found the milk cans

The old tractor gave more hay rides then I can imagine.  Jared wants to fix it up for next years parade.  The shed next to it used to give me quite a scare when I was young.

Summer at the farm.  Nothing better

One of the best parts about the farm is the old swing.  My dad, who is the oldest of the 8 kids can't remember when Grandpa put it up but he says it was in the 1940's.  Since then it has been reenforced but it still is kind of wobbly.   It just adds to the excitement!
When I was young, my uncles would push me and my cousins for what seemed like hours.  Now that tradition has been passed down to my kids and they spent some time pushing their younger cousins.
