Out with the old...in with the new.

I love going to the DMV!  I had put it off for as long as I could without getting into deep doodoo with the law.  So this week was the week for me to be tortured.  I not only needed to get a new drivers license, but I also had to register 2 cars.  And to make things worse, here in Utah, they require emission testing and safety inspections BEFORE you can even show up at the lovely DMV.

Dear Dave spent an hour rounding up all of the required papers so that all I would have to do is show up, present my many papers, take the drivers test (Yes, a drivers test. I haven't had to take one of those for 20+ years), and be done with it.

So yesterday, I went to trade my daughter (who will remain nameless) cars so that I could get her inspections done.  As I was driving her nice 20 year old car, I was only 30 yards from the station when all of a sudden, her car DIED!!  Right there on the highway, in the turning lane, within sight of the service station, it died!  What could be the problem I asked myself.  I tried, and tried to get that darn car to start when I noticed something very disturbing.  She had NO GAS!!!  Now years ago this would have be tragic.  Some of you might not be cell phone fans but right there at that moment I realized that cell phones ARE a necessity.  I did what every mom should do at that point.  I called her to skip lunch and come help me push her car!  I'm pretty sure she thought I was kidding, but no no no, I wasn't.  Needless to say, a handful of fellow drivers took pity on us, jumped out of their cars and came to our rescue.

So on the to the DMV I went.  It actually wasn't as bad as the Las Vegas ones but I still get the heebie geebies when I have to go.  Amanda  & I managed to pass the tests and we will "receive them in the mail in 2-3 weeks".

Now that I had conquered the license portion of this mess I needed to go to another bldg across town to get the cars registered.  So, with paperwork in hand, I walked to the counter only to find out that I was missing ONE piece of very necessary tree parts and would not be able to accomplish my task.Well at least I got one of the cars registered.  Amanda is on her own, it serves her right for running out of gas!  haha!  If she gets pulled over she can either start crying or punch the guy in the nose.  Depending on what kind of day she is having, is what he'll get.

  3. I love that you said my "daughter, who shall remain nameless!" I will be up all night trying to guess which daughter it is! So funny!

What an experience! I think any time you have to go to the DMV something bad is bound to happen!
