Bathroom re-do

Anyone who knows me, knows that I enjoy painting.  Not picture painting, but wall and furniture painting.  I used to just get a "wild hair" and start big projects at the drop of a hat, but these days I have to give it a lot more thought.  My back just can't handle moving large bookcases, couches, and tables around like it used to.  But I was not going to let a little thing like this stop me.  I just have to make sure that I have the help (the kids) around when it comes to moving junk.

Two days ago I was talking to Dave about some ideas (I was scoping him out) because he is one of those guys that says, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it".  I told him about an idea of me taking down the mirrors in the bathrooms, painting the walls a light gray/blue/green color (polished limestone) and getting new mirrors.  He doesn't mind the painting part but he fails to see the purpose of taking mirrors down, just to put another one up.  Well, when you say it like that...of course it sounds dumb!

So yesterday, I went full steam ahead in this project.  Amanda came home and said, "Uh, why are you taking down the mirror?  (She's a lot like Dave) and "Does dad know you're doing this?".  To which I said, "because I'm making it look better. And, "Yes, sort of! now help me with this mirror!"

Fortunately, after many years together, Dave understands that I need to be creative and pretty much gets out of the way and watches, he just doesn't understand why I have that need.  It's a girl thing.  God created us to create!

I put masking tape all over the mirror before I pried it off of the wall so that if it cracked, it wouldn't fall all over the place.  It didn't crack so now I can re-use it somewhere else.  Where?  I don't know, but I'll think of something.

My wall had a bad case of the POCKS!

Nothing that patch n paint can't fix

This is the After photo

I found the mirror at Ross for only $25

I love the soft blue/green with lots of white and a touch of black

 Now, on the MY bathroom!!

  1. beautiful! you need to come stay with me for a week and help me. I want to re-do some things but it takes creativity, time, and money... I seem to be short on all three :(
